You Gotta Love WordPress and Atahualpa

Yet again I have retooled the web site–with more plans down the line. Today’s exercise was one in which I took the latest blog posts and put them in their own section, instead of having them located on the home page. It was incredibly easy using built-in Wordpress settings and some of the theme options for Atahualpa. It makes the site feel more like a, well, a site, and less like just a blog. PHP 5?! Oh please.

Well, after many hours of fiddling with plugins, deactivating them, deleting them, etc. and after chmod-ing my various directories through ssh (thank you, fabulous husband and unix king) to 777 (I really hate that, by the way), and then chmod-ing them back again (phew!), and then resetting the Wordpress theme back to the default Kubrick, I was about to give up and just do a complete re-install of Wordpress 2.8.4.
